Defect heatmaps
See where defects cluster across the build to spot issue areas without stepping through every layer.

Regions of interest
Heatmaps provide a high-level view of where defects accumulate across the entire build.
Instead of inspecting each layer individually, the heatmap aggregates defect positions and highlights regions with recurring issues.
In the Heatmap view, the frequency plot for the selected defect type is shown below the image. The handles on the left and right sides of the plot allow you to clip the layer range, making it easy to focus on specific sections of the build.
Heatmap settings
Users can adjust several settings to refine the visualization:
- Toggle defect types to compare different patterns across the build
- Adjust contrast to emphasize low-frequency or high-frequency defect regions
- Filter by location, showing defects inside the part, on the powder bed, or both
- Select layer type, choosing between recoater layer, exposure layer, or both
- Choose a colormap to customize the visual appearance
- Export the heatmap as a PNG or JPEG for reporting and documentation
The Heatmap view helps quickly identify recurring defect patterns and localize problem areas that may not be obvious from layer-by-layer inspection. Key heatmaps are also included in each build job report.
