Comparing prints with outlier analysis
Find the prints that stand out from a group, and for which defect types.
An outlier analysis compares a group of prints and shows which ones stand out from the rest, and for which defect types. Use it to compare builds of the same part, or builds on one machine over time, and find the ones worth a closer look.
Start an analysis
Select the prints
On the Print jobs page, tick the box on at least five completed prints. Filters and tags help you gather a group that belongs together.
Click Analyse outliers
Click Analyse outliers above the table, then Confirm.
Wait for the results
The results open in a panel. While it shows Analysing, you can close the panel and keep working. The analysis keeps running and appears in the list of analyses.
You can also start an analysis from Print jobsOutlier analyses with New analysis, or from a print's report. Both open a list where you search, filter and pick the prints, then click Analyse outliers.
Choose prints that belong together
The results are relative to the prints you select. A print stands out only compared with the others in the same analysis, so adding or removing prints can change the outcome.
Compare prints you expect to behave alike: the same device, material and process parameters. Comparing very different builds mostly shows you differences you already know about.
Find your analyses
- Print jobsOutlier analyses lists every analysis in your organization, newest first. Each row shows the devices and prints compared and the outcome: how many prints stand out, All consistent, Running or Failed. Click a row to open it.
- In the print jobs table, a print that stood out in its latest analysis has an Outlier chip next to its name. Hover over the chip to see when the analysis ran, and click it to open the results.
